Photograph On Paper

Of course, there will always be those who look only at technique, who ask 'how', while others of a more curious nature will ask 'why'. Personally, I have always preferred inspiration to information.

"Big Little World"
by Demetriusz Wenglarczyk

From the "Slow Snow Life" photography series.

For me, photography is like cutting out little worlds from the many uninteresting elements of reality around me. Some of these worlds cannot be seen with the naked eye and, in fact, would not exist at all if they were not frozen in the frame by the photographer.

Sometimes you notice this little world before you see it through the camera. Other times you have to look through the camera to see the part that interests you. And sometimes that world isn't interesting at all until you decide that you want to show it as something interesting.

Everyone has a different point of view and different ways of achieving what we want others to see. The way you get certain results is important when you want to show your process, but for me the most important thing is the feeling you want to convey. Sometimes that feeling can be as simple as: "Hey, look how beautiful the world around you is, you just have to know how to look". It can also be an answer to "why".

What works for me here

There are some photos that I would like to print in a large format, frame and hang on the wall. This is one of them.
I like how the frame captures the scale and steepness of this climb. I cropped the vertical frame out of this photo. It focuses more on the drama of this climb than the mountain itself. I think I like this version better, but I can't decide.
